In This Ecconomy…You Want To Be Certain You Have A Builder Who Has Stood The Test Of Time…

So…Who would we recommend?

Well..

Hi folks..If you decide to build a new home or renovate, there is no question that you need to do your homework when it comes to sourcing the right home builder or renovator for the job in this current financial economy.

Being in the building industry myself, I’ve observed people take the big step of building their first home, or dream home, only to find that the journey along the way encountered poor advice, unreasonable construction hick ups, and poor or no communication by their builder. Or worse in one case close to home, where the builder closed down, and was not around to fix sub standard work discovered buy the client, after the client had moved in…

“You need a builder with a proven history, great home design ideas, practical living and storage layouts off the plan, and a good reputation for service with their clients. Building or renovating can be quite stressful..but it doesn’t have to be, if you’re in the right hands…”

I want to introduce you to one such reputable company that gets two thumbs up from us… These guys are the real deal!

Are you one of thousands of people feeling imprisoned by clutter?

Getting your wardrobe fashion items and household organised into a working and functional system that will continually serve you well, can take time. The success of this is going to depend on the system you devise to keep your closet and general home environment functioning and uncluttered. We’re generally too busy, and never stop to consider all the open space that is actually available in our wardrobes and around the home. The big key to success here is to find a way to turn that space into something you can actually work with and learn valuable keys in dealing with clutter and creating a routine for on going mess management. You to like many others, who have discovered solutions to the problems of wardrobe and general house hold clutter, can break free of the clutter prison.

A SECRET FORMULA FOR SUCCESS

“They best way to organise your wardrobe is, to perhaps consider not to follow how someone else organises theirs”.

Their best way may not be your best way!

Remember that we all have different organisational styles as well as different size and shape wardrobes, not to mention the size, shape and quantity of our various fashion garments. Your wardrobe organisational strategy should be customised to suit what you have to store in your wardrobe, accompanied with a touch of what I call the 10% principal.

This 10% principle works by quickly sorting through each wardrobe in the house and separating the garments that you really don’t need anymore, up to about 10% of the overall wardrobe size. In a wardrobe that is 2 meters long for instance, take out an area of around 20cm (that’s almost 1 foot) of space.

Give these away to a charity or friends who can get good use out of them.

For the complete range of expert tips on getting free from clutter, consider our

The Biggest regrets new home owners have can last a lifetime…

Wow…This is a biggy! I have lost count the amount of times I’ve seen this scenario unfold with new home builders and renovators. This is one of the biggest traps I know of when

you are planning and designing a new home or renovating an existing home. I am talking about things that are overlooked or underestimated in terms of what goes into a new home regarding design and practicality. Ok, one of the biggest and most common traps is to crimp on storage design and space in your potential new home or renovation.

As I stated previously, this would have to be one of the most common mistakes new home owners make, only to move in and realise they are just as cluttered and disorganised as before, and in a lot of cases worse off in their new home than before. Why? Well for a number of reasons so ridiculously simple, that

when I’m finished it will leave you thinking twice before you ever finalise a new home design with your builder.

There seems to be a common mind set in the Australian building industry that because internal living often means larger bedrooms, wider hall ways, bigger en-suites and the like, important storage areas like bedroom robes, hall linen cupboards and garage store areas often suffer through being reduced in depth and length to make way for the trend. Now I’m not saying that this all bad. I have observed however, that sometimes common sense goes out the window to make way for another window…. so to speak.

The first reason is a lack of design sense, and of coarse when you finally move in, the joy and freedom of having a new home is tainted by the fact that you have no adequate or practical storage space to hang and stack your stuff. This is so true… In fact I have witnessed on more than one occasion, expensive high end luxury homes with so much area inside, looking very spectacular, and I have opened the hall linen cupboard to set it out to install linen shelving, I’ve just stood there in disbelief as the cupboard is less than 300mm (1foot) deep and shortened in length as well, all squashed back to make way for the big living environment or wider hall way.

The fact is, it is just plain common sense that if your gearing up for a big internal living lifestyle, this usually means you also commonly have or will need the st

orage for big living or big lifestyle. We often get a phone call at Wardrobe choice, later down the track from a home owner desperate because they just don’t have enough practical space to fold their bath towels, let alone store common house hold items, because the storage areas were not thought through seriously enough in the home design. This can often be as a result of the architect or builder having a standard design that just doesn’t accommodate good storage and buyer overlookes the size of the storage areas on the plan that they have as standard. Please, please look carefully at what is included in the home design floor plan layout if you are looking at building right now.

Another scary reason that home owners or renovators get trapped overlooking storage, is the “budget monster” which can creep up and leave any new home owner with lasting frustration for years down the track. When it comes to building a new home with a building company, you commonly have an allowance for internal fixings in the building contract that has been budgeted within the home design. Unfortunately it is all too common that most builders allow for a very basic storage arrangement in each bedroom, linen or other storage area in the design. This usually amounts to a single shelf and hanging rail in each bedroom and a few basic shelves in the other storage areas throughout the design. In some cases there are no garage recesses or storage areas factored in at all. Now I totally understand that a lot of new home buyers in this current financial climate have to be able to build to their budget and purchase what they can afford.

The important thing to think about is that most of the time, new home owners will inevitably call the wardrobe specialist who supplies the builder with the shelving a second time, to upgrade their existing storage layout after they have moved in and found that the standard sh

elving design did not work for them, especially if they are planning for a family. This often costs the owner more money than if they had just talked to the wardrobe specialist or builder at the start and worked it through. The big trap is, that a lot of people think that the shelving is not really that important in the design, an they can probably make do because there focus is on making the rest of the home look featured and smart.

Here is something to seriously consider. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to bring your internal storage up to a practical functioning design throughout your home. Why not get a quote from the wardrobe specialist to add some simple upgrades to the design throughout. The chances are that for the same money you are only going to run down to a local retailer to try and find a chest of drawers or a shelving unit anyway. So nothing has changed ,you are still upgrading because your basic storage budget these days is just not practical for your average family. The problem then is that you need to be careful when purchasing cheaply priced drawers and shelving units because they may not last very long and fall apart. Your wardrobe specialist however, should have a huge guarantee on their product and service. Wardrobe Choice for example has it’s popular G24- Guarantee.

Now lets say you get a quote from the wardrobe shelving specialist, and remember this quote should be done preferably at the design stage of your new home when you are looking over the internal inclusions in the home layout from your builder, right so you get a quote and you may find tha

t the quote to upgrade your standard non practical storage is actually out of your price range. Well why not consider going back to the builder and look at changing some of the internal finishes inside for a slightly cheaper option, so you can put more money in the contract allowance into a practical storage layout instead. You may find that your internal features may not have to suffer at all. Your lifestyle may suffer if your new home is constantly cluttered with no room for all your gear. We know that most women and men prefer a house with practical storage.

This makes good sense. Honestly, the amount of working mums who are stressed out to the max every morning, trying to get ready for work and getting the kids organised for school, running around picking things up off the floor, off benches, finally just sitting on the end of the bed with their head in their hands unable to think straight. The reality of clutter and disorganisation in the common house hold of a working family, is a very real statistic. However, this problem can be well managed and solved with some simple fore thought in the initial design stage of your home, don’t wait until it all gets too much!

Never make the mistake of thinking that your wardrobe shelving is not important in the design and budget of your new home. If you are in any doubt contact Wardrobe choice on 1300714778 or visit www.wardrobechoice.com.au for specialist advice on how to practically design your storage on a budget.

Remember a little more spent now can mean a whole lot less heart ache and less money later on down the track.

These are just a few of the traps we have seen. Stay tuned for more features on this big topic that every potential home builder should know before signing any contract.

There are so many fabulous shapes, cuts and colours out there that flatter a gorgeous curvy figure, that sometimes we simply don’t see the forest for the trees! As a size 14+ myself, I used to think I needed to hide my size or try to look thinner! The answer to a flattered, stunning look – is not to try to look thinner, but to flatter and curve out what you do have!!
If you’re a pear shape, then accentuate the waistline and build out the shoulders! If you’re an apple shape, then draped cuts, softer fabrics and creating waistlines with colour can work.
If you have a heavy bust, stick to lower cut necklines, collars and avoid high round necks.
The shots here are of a fabulous style day we had with a bundle of gorgeous curvy ladies – that’s me at the top playing with red accessories on a silver and grey coat!
Winter time is almost gone, but great cut coats and trenchs can dress up any outfit and make a curvy shape look great. Whether it’s with boots and jeans or over a lovely special occasion dress, always invest in a lightweight coat that’s cut to your shape. Summertime isn’t far away. That will mean lighter dresses and being forced to expose our arms!!! Oh dread!!
If you want some tips or some help with finding the colours and perfect cuts for you, no matter what your shape, feel free to drop me a line. Check out my website articles too as I’m sure you’ll find something helpful there.
Watch this space, as there’ll be more tips and photos to come.
There are people who experience “Aha!” moments in their lives simply because they have finally found the things that were considered lost. There are also other people who waste so much time searching for their things in their closet.

What do these people have in common? They all need a closet overhaul!

In reality, organising one’s closet can be the most rational thing to do, because aside from the fact that the person can save much-needed time, a neat and orderly closet stimulates a sense of tranquility and relaxation.

Therefore, for people who wish to know how to organise a closet, here are some tips that they can use to help them keep their things well organised inside their closet:

1. Unused clothing should be discarded.

If a person has a number of unused clothing in his or her closet, it would be better if they would take them out and discard those that they no longer wear.

The rule of thumb is that if a certain dress or shirt was not used for almost two years, then, the person who owns it will probably not wear it again.

2. Identify the problem areas.

Upon emptying the closet, the person should try to analyse and identify the problem areas. Where was the mess at it’s most extreme?

In addition, it would be better if the person will try to assess himself or herself if he or she would like to change something. Would he rather have a bigger space for his shirts? Would she want an equal space for everything? It is all a matter of careful analysis of the area.

3. Maximise the full storage potential of drawers.

It would be better for an individual to maximise the full potential of his or her’s drawer space. This can be done by using dividers wherein they can separate one item from another.

In addition, segregating clothes or accessories into sections makes them much easier to find when needed.

4. Use the closet floor.

For areas where clothes can be kept hanging, one can still use the floor for items that can be folded. In this way, more space can be consumed without having to clutter areas or leave spaces that are not used.

5. Stacking bins are great containers inside the closet.

Stacking bins can also be used to keep small things that will only appear scattered and messy when directly kept in the closet.

Boiled down, organising a closet is not a tedious job. It just needs a little imagination and dogged determination to get things properly sorted and arranged in order to have a well-organised closet.

Do you feel that every time you have to open your pantry to look for something, it takes you so much time to do? Or for all this time you thought you’ve used all your supplies of mustard and upon cleaning your pantry, you see that you still have five unopened jars of mustard left with their expiration dates lapsed five months ago?

For many homes, disorganised pantries are quite a bit of a nuisance. Preparing meals for your family seems to take longer because you can’t find some of the items you need for cooking that are stored in the pantry.

Organising the pantry in your house can help you save time, space, and money. Here are five simple ways to help in getting the job done.

1. Group similar food items in one place in your pantry. Grouping different food items and products by content or by brand can make your life easier in finding them. For instance, you can put all the condiments in one section of your pantry, the snack foods in another, and the breakfast cereals on their own shelf.

2. Keep the pantry orderly and neat. Containers should have identifiable labels and boxes should line up orderly. This way, you can see all the contents of your pantry in just a few seconds, making it easier and simpler for you to find things when you need them.

3. You should conduct a regular inventory. Before going to the store or supermarket, check your pantry first to see if you need to re-stock any items.

4. Rotate the food items in your pantry. How often have you discovered boxes or cans buried deeply on the shelves that are unused or unopened? Or that you have to remove them because they were buried so long that the contents have become spoiled or past their expiration dates? Whether you stack them or line the items up, it is crucial for you to rotate these items.

Follow these easy rules and you would be guaranteed to save time, space, and money.

One step in the right direction would be to investigate wire ventilated shelving.

For perfect illustrations of this visit www.wardrobechoice.com.au. It is widely known that this style of shelving will allow more air to circulate in an around your clothing. BE CAREFUL, do not let a wardrobe shelving company tell you that this type of shelving system will prevent deadly toxic mould. There are no facts to support this! This type of shelving will certainly help!

Fact…

Toxic Mould Syndrome is a condition caused by exposure to toxic Black Mould in the home.

This can make you very sick…

If you think you have toxic mould in your wardrobe or around your home, you need to consult a specialist. By contacting your local Building Authority, you can have someone come and inspect the mould. Don’t play around with this stuff… it can cause respitory issues among other problems. Here’s some ideas to deal with the situation…

You need to incorporate de – humidifying solutions, like products that capture damp and moisture in your wardrobe. These can be put on hangers, or can be available as small containers to sit on a shelf, or positioned on the floor. These usually can be found in your local Supermarket.

A good way to combat mould is to create better ventilation in your robe. A good method is to insert a vent or similar into the ceiling or out through a wall, to suck out moist or damp air and it will keep your robe dryer by allowing more fresh air to flow through.

TIP..

Never put your wedding photos or wedding dress in a box on the floor of any cupboard or robe!! I saw the tragic despair once, when a shower developed the smallest leak on the other side of the wall. I hope I never see that heart wrenching emotion again. Let a wardrobe specialist design your storage needs!

The task can see too much in the beginning, but with some helpful tips you will get the job done. The amount of wardrobe space isn’t what is important but how you use it is! Break the entire task down in to small, achievable steps. This will keep the project from seeming like it is too much to tackle. The first order of business is to decide to eliminate clutter from your wardrobe forever.

Remove everything from your wardrobe. Be honest about what you find in there. Analyse each and every item. Getting rid of things if very easy for some people, but harder for others. Why keep dealing with these items though each and every time you open up your wardrobe? I understand some articles in your wardrobe may have sentimental value. Store them in an air tight container in another area of your home.

If a piece of clothing hasn’t been worn in at least one year consider donating it to a worthy cause. If you have worn out shoes that you never wear get rid of them. If it doesn’t fit then get it out of your wardrobe. If you have items that need to be sewn or have alterations done, this is the time to do it before you place those items back into the wardrobe. Anything that you have just stuck in your wardrobe for lack of a better place for it needs to be removed from your home or given a proper location.

Come up with a system for organising your clothing. This can be by color, style, or season. You can also choose to separate them by where you wear them such as around the house, work, and casual. A good idea is to hang all the pieces of a particular outfit together. Keep in mind the goal is to maximize the amount of space you have available in your wardrobe.

Make a list of what you want in your custom wardrobe organisation. Do you love shoes? Then you might need a great deal of storage for all of them. Maybe you need shelves for your sweaters or your favorite books you keep in the wardrobe. Start planning your wardrobe organisation by measuring the length and the depth. You will need this information to start figuring out how many shelves and shoe racks you can install.

What type of look do you want to accomplish and how much money are you willing to invest in this project? Do you want the organisation shelves and items to be permanent or something you can easily remove later? The answers to these questions will help you determine the type of materials you will use to complete your wardrobe organisation. You can choose from wood, wire items, baskets, canvas, plastic, and anything else you want to consider.

The key is to eliminate anything you don’t really need from your wardrobe and then set the remaining items up in a way that works well for you. All of us have different ways of organising so make your system unique to you. This will help you stick with returning items to their proper location in the wardrobe. Take some time to research the various types of wardrobe organisers and come up with a plan you will love.

You may be able to tolerate this sort of lifestyle at first, but as you go along and as you mature, you will realise the importance of organisation tips and how you can benefit from the procedure.

When you get older, you tend to forget many things that may cause lots of worries if you won’t do anything about it. You are aging, but it doesn’t really have to show, although you cannot help it if you won’t do anything about your problem with being disorganised. While you still have time and you still don’t look as if any time is the best time to place you in a nursing home, you must learn how to manage the situation. Here are some things that you can do to start kicking off and move along towards the organised route in life.

1. Look at your surroundings. What are the things don’t fit? For sure, these are the elements that do not fit at the whole set-up. You cannot merely throw away things that look out of place. You never know when you will need these things, so what you can do at this point is to designate an area for everything that you own. To make the task a success, you have to help yourself remember where you place these things. You can create a list for this purpose. You can also start creating tags to help you remember what kinds of things you have placed at certain locations within your house.

2. Do not expect too much to happen too soon. Do not put pressure on yourself, especially because you are only beginning the process of organising everything that you own. There are times when you will feel like going back to your old habits. Whenever this time occurs, just weigh in the benefits that you can get by becoming more organised, plus the wrinkles that you have avoided to have after you have made conscious effort to get things at their designated spots.

3. Create an easy-to-follow routine and to-do tasks. This way, you won’t forget anything important and this will also help you become more focused about all elements around you. For example, what do you have to get done for the week? Do you have to do the laundry, buy toiletries or chat with your best friend on the phone? Create a schedule so that you can accommodate all these and more tasks even if you didn’t think it is possible that you can do so many things at the little time that you an afford to spend with these.

The long term effects of following organisation tips are vital to how you will live your life in the future. You have to practice this while you are still young so that you can integrate the values that you have learned from it when it is time to lead an independent life wherein you are on your own when it comes to tasks and making sure that everything is in place and easy to locate.
